Kyuan Moroi, a young herbalist who believes that medicine is his true calling, is a passionate man full of a sense of justice and is trusted by his patients. Because of his passionate nature, when he learns that villains are tormenting the common people, he burns with anger and single-handedly attacks them. However, he is outnumbered and beaten, and finds himself in danger. It is at this point that Isuke of Namidabashi, a chivalrous outlaw, appears. In fact, Kyuan's older brother, the playwright Ittei Nandai, worried about the reckless Kyuan, had pulled some strings and asked Isuke to come to his aid. Isuke, with a knife in hand, joins Kyuan in fighting off the villains.
