Comedy | Ikariya Nagayama, a fortune teller in Shinjuku, is unsuccessful because his predictions are never accurate. One day, a suspicious man named Kato Hideo, wearing a poetry collection around his neck, appears before him. In reality, Hideo is the son of a lumber merchant from Akita, who ran away from home aspiring to be a lyricist. He suffered an accident at a construction site, losing his memory and becoming a wandering poet. Nagayama believes him to be a prophet, names him "Shiranai-sama" (Mr. Unknown), and begins to worship him. Meanwhile, back in Hideo's Akita family home, his father, Kinnosuke, becomes ill and bedridden with worry about Hideo's disappearance, and turns to a dubious religious group called "Omegumi-kyo" (The Grace Cult).
