Olya is grieving the death of her husband, a renowned chemist, and for the first time finds herself alone, without money or purpose. To earn a living, she rents a room to the rude Zhenya. At first, they irritate each other, but their shared difficulties begin to bring them closer. Olya accepts a job as an assistant to Butin, a chemist and her husband's colleague. However, to do so, she needs to improve her English and learn to drive. At driving school, Olya meets the instructor, Tolya, whose jokes conceal a kind and sensitive person. He falls in love with his student and gradually becomes a support system for both Olya and Zhenya. Butin turns out to be more than he claims. Olya is forced to confront him openly to defend her husband's name and restore her true self. Afterward, she gains the courage to start her life anew.
