Two Tears
Set against the vibrant cultural landscape of Miami Beach, Two Tears is a heartwarming coming-of-age short film that explores childhood wonder, artistic ambition, and the transformative power of emotion.
Deana and Ginny, two inseparable eight-year-old ballet students, are preparing for one of the most important milestones of their young lives: their first performance in The Nutcracker. While spending an afternoon at the local library, they stumble upon an old book filled with mysterious handwritten notes that tell the story of a long-forgotten legend known as the "Nutcracker Curse." According to the tale, every dancer's future is determined by their first performance at the age of eight an experience that can either launch a brilliant career or forever shadow their dreams.
Intrigued and increasingly convinced that the curse may be real, the girls embark on a magical quest to break it. The legend points them toward a peculiar stone hidden within the Bass Museum, where a dancer must shed two genuine emotional tears to alter their fate. Determined to protect their dreams, Deana and Ginny set out to discover what emotional tears truly are and how they can summon them.
As their adventure unfolds, the girls begin to question the nature of art, passion, and vulnerability. Their search eventually draws in their beloved ballet teacher, Miss Maia, whose skepticism masks a deeply personal connection to the legend and a past she has never fully confronted.
Blending imagination, humor, and heartfelt emotion, Two Tears is a celebration of childhood curiosity and the universal desire to find meaning through art. At its core, the film reminds us that the emotions we seek are not something to be manufactured or forced they already exist within us, waiting for the right moment to emerge.
