2023: 34-year-old photographer Alexander Jaromin, who has been living in Athens for 20 years under the BKA's witness protection program, is haunted by traumatic memories of an attack on his family. When he discovers clues and a DVD in his mother's estate that cast doubt on his belief that his father, Frank, and his sister were shot by Serbian nationalists in 2003, he uses the DVD, which apparently shows a secret operation by agents in Baghdad in 2003, to search Berlin for Ivo Rebic, a former Bundeswehr comrade of his father, whom he believes to be the actual murderer. This brings BND agent Steffen Graf, who has been monitoring Alexander Jaromin for years, into the picture.
