The screenplay is based on a Catholic orphanage during the 1940's. It shows what happened to a woman who fell in love with a Naval Officer only to have him leave. She is confronted with being pregnant. It shows what a mother had to go through and the heartaches of giving up her baby to an orphanage. It also portrays life in the orphanage and the adoption process.
