Rie's parents divorce on Valentine's day with her mother taking off to Los Angeles. Rie too is admitted to a university in the United States and flies to that country except the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami occur and pull her back to Tokyo. As the troubles mount she and a rescue dog meet.
