1901 St. Petersburg. Wladyslaw Mazurkiewicz has just graduated from medical studies and intends to leave the tsarist capital forever. Kidnapped unexpectedly from the train, he is forced to return to the hated St. Petersburg and find employment in the local insane asylum. The kidnappers make it clear that they have high expectations of him. Mazurkiewicz, however, does not know what he would actually do. And when?
